Barmano.com Launches to Answer the Who, What, When and Where of the Bar World

Barmano is dedicated to bar and drinking culture, answering the who, what, when and where of the bar world. From friends living down the street to world travelers, they can find a place to share and discover new bars and drinks.

Barmano has a version in Spanish, French and German to help bridge the cultural gap and provide more depth of reviews and information from bar-goers, beer lovers and cocktail enthusiasts.

Barmano has set out to do this by combining cocktail recipes (http://www.barmano.com/drinks/), an ingredient catalog, a bar guide (http://www.barmano.com/bar-guide/), bar jobs (http://www.barmano.com/bar-jobs/) and an online community. You can find friends or invite them to become Barmano members, and then start sharing your favorite drinks, bars and reviews.

Barmano has already built a large database of bars and pubs, with over 49,000 bar, pub and club listings, in 50 countries, and visitors from over 57 nations. They plan to raise the number of listings to 100,000 within 6 months. That's roughly 90% of all bars in the US, the UK, Canada and Australia.

Cocktail enthusiasts and "mixologists" can add their own creations through the website, and be recognized as the creative genius behind it, while sharing and promoting their creations with others.

"We really love the cultural differences associated with bars and drinking that exist all over the world. Throughout history the consumption of alcoholic beverages has been a key part of socializing and celebrating", says Barmano founder, David Slade, "we're really interested in creating an environment where people can share their favorite places to have a glass of their favorite drink. It's truly a unique social networking opportunity for sharing and discovering."

Barmano's love for cultural difference comes from its small, international team, with members from Germany, France, United States, and Australia, and advisers from Israel and other countries. In addition to English, it has a site for German, French and Spanish speakers.

The Barmano team has big plans to expand beyond the confines of typical social networking sites. "We have tons of other exciting developments already in the works, such as how to quadruple the size of our global bar guide while delivering content specific to a users location", notes Steffen Mueller co-founder and tech lead, "but we also have many challenges." Mr. Mueller goes on to discuss challenges of overcoming the growing trend in binge drinking in many cultures. "We're trying to develop an environment that fosters quality vs. quantity of drink."

Barmano more recently launched a new, and unique, rating and review system that allows users to say what type of drink they go to the place for, "I go here for the" and then the user can select beer, wine and/or cocktails. In addition bars can be graded upon a more traditional multiple criteria, and a written review. "We hope to create a more tailored discovery process for people since simply saying "this is the best bar in the city", doesn't really tell you why or for what," mentioned David Slade, "If someone wants to find, for example, the best cocktail or wine bar, that should be simple and obvious".

Barmano is currently "BETA" testing an employment center focused on related job listings, and has started developing an events management service to tie together people, places and products.
